The daily disappearance of the Sun below the horizon owing to Earth's rotation is known as sunset or dusk. The equinox Sun sets due west at the moment of both the Spring and Autumn equinoxes as seen from everywhere on Earth (excluding the North and South poles). The sun sets to the northwest (or not at all) in the Northern Hemisphere's spring and summer, and to the southwest in the autumn and winter, as seen from the Northern Hemisphere; the seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere.

In astronomy, sunset is defined as the point when the Sun's upper limb dips below the horizon.  Atmospheric refraction distorts sunlight rays near the horizon to the point where the solar disc is geometrically about one diameter below the horizon when a sunset is visible.

Sunset is not to be confused with twilight, which has three stages. The first is civil twilight, which begins when the Sun has vanished below the horizon and lasts until it is 6 degrees below the horizon. Maritime twilight, which occurs when the sun is between 6 and 12 degrees below the horizon, is the second phase. The third is astronomical twilight, which is defined as the time when the Sun is between 12 and 18 degrees below the horizon. Dusk is the darkest moment of twilight right before nightfall, and it occurs at the end of astronomical twilight.  Finally, night begins when the Sun dips below the horizon by 18 degrees and no longer lights the sky.

On at least one day of the year, locations north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle witness no full sunset or sunrise, since the polar day or polar night lasts continuously for 24 hours.

Thank you so much for watching this video. I Hope you enjoy and like it.
